Instance Groups¶
The Instance groups tab is used to group virtual machines for centralized management, scaling, and load balancing.
Instance groups represent a set of instances with identical characteristics, deployed from a single image and managed as a single entity.
Key Features¶
- View a list of instance groups with key parameters;

Filter the VM list:
- by name;
- by status;
- by owner;

Create a new instance group using the
Createbutton — performed by ordering a virtual machine image in theCatalog; - Quickly identify the current status of a VM group using visual status indicators.
VM Group Statuses and Indicators¶
The operational state of an instance group is represented by a status and a color indicator displayed in the table row next to the VM group name.

|---|---|---|
| Online | All virtual machines in the group are running. | Green indicator |
| Partially Active | Some virtual machines in the group are online. | Half-filled green indicator (partial activity indicator) |
| Offline (stopped) | All virtual machines in the group are stopped. | Grey indicator |
| Unknown status | The system cannot determine the current status of the VM group. In this case, you may contact support. | Grey indicator with a question mark |
Instance Group Actions¶
The following actions are available via the context menu (⋮):
- Stop / Force Stop;
- Assign a group owner —
Set ownership; - Edit name and description;
- Manage (navigate to advanced settings in Dedicated UI);
- Delete.
Assigning a Group Owner¶
To change the owner of an instance group, select Set Ownership from the context menu. In the modal window that opens, choose a user from the dropdown list:
Click Set to confirm.
Editing Name and Description¶
To change the name or description of an instance group, select Edit Name & Description from the context menu. In the modal window, make the required changes:
Click Save to apply the changes.
Deleting an Instance Group¶
To delete an instance group, select Delete from the context menu and confirm the action in the dialog window.
Deleting all VMs
Deleting an instance group will remove all virtual machines within that group.
